Jade Rabbit Stone and Love Stones
The Jade Rabbit Stone is a natural stone, resembling a crouching jade rabbit. Being large in mass and having a beautiful legend, the stone is an important component of the Phoenix Mountain Scenery.

Legend says that when the goddess of the moon 嫦娥passed by this place along with her jade rabbit, she placed the animal at the spring in the Miaofeng Valley 妙峰沟 to drink water. When the jade rabbit saw several hares 野兔playing in grass, it could not help but went over and played with them. The rabbit was so happy with playing and forgot to return to the goddess. As a result, the rabbit has been crouching patiently in the valley all the time, waiting for the goddess to bring it back to the moon.

The Love Stones tell a local beautiful legend. Fenghuangling ever called Zhubi Mountain 驻
跸山, lives two wealthy families with resentment for generations, never speak to each other. One day in an accidental coincidence, a man and a lady from the two different families fall in love.

However, they are not allowed. Finally they climb the top of Zhubi Mountain to pray for the deities to stay together forever, then set themselves on fire. The two families regret but too late, just see a lighting flying down, the couple turning two stones hugging together and never forsaking. From then on local couples called this the loved stones. People often wish for a beautiful love forever swearing to the Love Stones.

Immortal’s Footprint
This place is famous because the stone tablet here has a footprint on its top.

Legend says that when many local naughty children were playing in the river on a summer day after a rainstorm, a rock rolled down the hill and threatened to hit the children. At that time, an immortal came and intercepted the rock with his foot. The rock stayed but was left with a footprint, said to be that of an immortal. But experts say that the dent on the rock was a result of orogenic movement and wind erosion or a result of sea erosion. This can prove that the Beijing region had once been under the sea.

Ladder to Heaven
The Ladder to the Heaven is one of the most famous tourist attractions of the Phoenix Mountain. Because its steep slope has 53 steps, it is also called the “53 Steps”, which implies one would receive good results after fully understanding 53 truths.

I climbed the ladder on March 16, 2023, and my father took this photo of me.
